New measures to help Taiwan visitors to Hong Kong
*************************************************

The Immigration Department today (December 24) announced that from January 1, two new measures would be implemented to provide greater convenience for Taiwan residents to visit Hong Kong.

     These were:

(1) Lifting the restriction that only two iPermits can be applied within 30 days; and
(2) Extending the period of stay in Hong Kong from 14 days to 30 days for holders of iPermits and Multiple Entry Permits.

Upon implementation of the new measures, holders of iPermits and Multiple Entry Permits may be granted a 30-day stay on visitor condition upon each arrival in Hong Kong.

"The HKSAR Government has always tried to enhance the travel convenience of visitors including those from Taiwan.  The new measures will provide visitors from Taiwan, particularly 'pack-and-go' travellers, with further convenience and flexibility in planning their itineraries," an Immigration Department spokesman said.
