Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, after his visit to Causeway Bay today (December 20) (English portion):
Reporter: How do you think the Hong Kong Government can implement the policies introduced by the Mainland government?
Chief Secretary for Administration: In the last few months, due to the financial tsunami, I am sure economies around the world had been negatively impacted. Actually the Hong Kong Government, together with the Central Peopleˇ¦s Government, has introduced a number of measures in order to combat and overcome the negative effect of the financial tsunami. I have confidence that Hong Kong people have the experience as well as the determination and motivation to overcome any financial setbacks. Therefore, I urge the people in Hong Kong that they must focus on the common goal, that is to build up the economy, create jobs, better the livelihood of Hong Kong. That is the key issue today. We must work together. Every Hong Kong person has a responsibility and the duty to do that. Thank you.
