Junior Police Call Territory-wide Anti-drug Day

     Police will kick off its two-year anti-drug publicity campaign to be driven by all district Junior Police Calls (JPC) with the JPC Territory-wide Anti-drug Day tomorrow (December 20).

     Supported by the Beat Drugs Fund, the campaign aims to reinforce anti-drug education and publicity among youngsters and to arouse public concern about youth drug abuse problem through a variety of activities in the coming two years.

     To tie in with other publicity efforts, various Anti-drug Day events will be organised between December 2008 and July 2010. On each anti-drug day, JPC members from the 20 police districts throughout the territory will simultaneously participate in anti-drug educational or publicity activities in their respective districts.
 
     The Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan-lung, SC, and the Commissioner of Police, Mr Tang King-shing, will officiate at the launching ceremony of the Anti-drug Day at Police Headquarters tomorrow. They will also administer an oath to be sworn by JPC Advanced Leader and representatives who will declare their commitment to the Anti-drug Day programme at the ceremony.

     Immediately after the ceremony, JPC members across the territory will take part in various activities organised for the first Anti-drug Day, including distribution of leaflets, bus parade, variety show, fun fair and day camping.
