Seawater intake, outfalls planned for Kai Tak

     The Government plans to build a seawater intake and two outfalls at the former Kai Tak Airport runway to extract seawater from the harbour for heat rejection by the centralised chiller plants of the proposed district cooling system at the Kai Tak Development.  

     The works, which will affect an area of approximately 975 square metres of foreshore and sea-bed, are scheduled to begin in 2010 for completion by 2012.

     The extent of the area affected is described in a notice gazetted today (December 19). The notice and its related plan have been posted near the site.  The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, and at the Kowloon City District Officeˇ¦s Public Enquiry Service Centre, Room 1706-1713, 17th Floor, One Harbourfront, 18-22 Tak Fung Street, Hung Hom.

     Any person who has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved may write to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point by February 19, 2009.
