Suspended sentence for woman obstructing public officers
********************************************************

A woman was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, suspended for one year, by Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (December 17) for obstructing public officers doing their duty.

The woman was in court over an incident on November 7 when Food and Environmental Hygiene Department officers were conducting an operation against obstruction in Ting Kok Road, Tai Po.

The woman was also fined $800 by the court for causing obstruction in a public place.

"Obstructing public officers executing their duties is not only wrong, but also carries legal consequences," a department spokesman said.

He urged the public to co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties.
