Immigration Department to introduce new application forms
*********************************************************

The Immigration Department today (Dec 12) announced that new application forms would be introduced for applications for entry to Hong Kong for visit/transit, study, investment (to establish/join in business), residence as dependants, and employment as imported workers.

"Application for Entry for Visit/Transit in Hong Kong" (Form Nos ID 1003A and ID 1003B), "Application for Entry for Study in Hong Kong" (Form Nos ID 995A and ID 995B), "Application for Entry for Investment (to establish/join in business) in Hong Kong" (Form Nos ID 999A and ID 999B), "Application for Entry for Residence as Dependants in Hong Kong" (Form No ID 997), and "Application for Entry for Employment as Imported Workers in Hong Kong" (Form Nos ID 1001A and ID 1001B) will take effect from Monday (Dec 15).

An Immigration Department spokesman said the new bilingual application forms were designed to make them more user-friendly and  enable applicants and their sponsors to give information in support of their applications. Moreover, like the application forms for employment as professionals and for training which were introduced in May this year, the application forms for entry for study and investment (to establish/join in business) also accommodate the information of the accompanying dependants who will no longer be required to complete separate application forms as at present.

From Dec 15, the new application forms can be obtained free of charge from the Information and Liaison Section of the Immigration Department, any Immigration Branch Offices, overseas Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions, the Immigration Division of the Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong.  They can also be downloaded from the Immigration Department website at www.immd.gov.hk.

The existing application forms relevant to these applications will continue to be accepted until June 15, 2009.
