Food alert on Irish pork and bacon products
*******************************************

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (December 7) advised people not to eat pork and bacon products made in Ireland.

ˇ§The appeal was made following the detection of dioxin by the relevant Irish authorities in animal feed and pork fat samples. We understand the Irish government is recalling the affected pork and bacon products,ˇ¨ a CFS spokesman said.

According to information provided by the Irish authorities, all Irish pork and bacon products produced since September are affected.

ˇ§We have informed the trade of the incident and asked them to stop selling these products.

ˇ§The CFS will contact the Irish authorities for further information and is closely monitoring the situation,ˇ¨ the spokesman said.
