Shenzhou-7 delegation briefed on major developments on waterfront and meets tertiary students (With photos/video)

     The delegation of the Shenzhou-7 manned space mission began the second day of their visit to Hong Kong today (December 6) with a harbour cruise.

     Before the tour, the Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr John Chai, briefed the delegation on the development of major infrastructure projects along the waterfront of Victoria Harbour, including the Kai Tak Development and the proposed cruise terminal, the West Kowloon Cultural District Development; proposed development at the harbourfront of Central and Wan Chai; and the history of land reclamation in Hong Kong.

     Accompanied by Mr Chai, the delegation toured the harbour for about 40 minutes.

     During the tour, the delegation saw landmark buildings along the waterfront including the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Hong Kong Space Museum , the International Finance Centre and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

     In the afternoon the delegation met tertiary students at a seminar at Chinese University and briefed them on the launch of Shenzhou-7, spacewalk technology and China's aerospace science development.
