S for S calls for international joint efforts to fight terrorism (With photos)

     The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, today (November 28) called for closer co-operation among law enforcement agencies around the world to fight against international terrorism.

     At a meeting with the Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission cum Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs, and Disaster Management, Mr Tsutomu Sato, Mr Lee said the terrorist attacks in Mumbai clearly indicated the need for international joint efforts to deal with this sort of incident.

     "Enhanced exchanges of intelligence and information among international law enforcement agencies are vital in maintaining law and order in the region and around the globe," he said.

     Mr Lee also met a group of Japanese businessmen, professionals and academics over lunch and updated them on the latest Hong Kong developments, particularly the law and order situation.

     Later in the afternoon, Mr Lee visited Japan's Fire and Disaster Management College to learn about Japan's experience in fire-fighting as well as preventing and handling disasters.
