CSSA caseload for October

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in October showed a slight increase of 109 cases over September, representing an insignificant increase of 0.04%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released today (November 26).

     Total CSSA caseload at the end of October stood at 283,041 (see attached table), with 475,318 recipients.
 
     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a decrease of 0.1% in October to 31,000.

     Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.3% in October to 36,047.
  
     Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 1% to stand at 16,033.

     However, both old age and ill health cases rose by 0.2% to 151,511 and 24,440 respectively.

     Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $18 billion for 2007-08.
