The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will leave for Dubai on Sunday (November 23) to attend the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Forum. He will promote Hong Kongˇ¦s strengths as an international financial centre and the cityˇ¦s efforts to develop Islamic finance.
On November 24, Professor Chan will speak at the DIFC Forum, a major event of DIFC Week 2008. DIFC Week is an annual programme of conferences featuring financial and economic leaders from across the world and the Gulf region who will share perspectives on wide-ranging topics including the regional macroeconomic outlook and foreign investment. Professor Chan will also deliver a keynote speech at a business seminar on November 26.
During his three-day visit in Dubai, Professor Chan will meet government officials, key figures in the financial services sector and corporate leaders to brief them on the latest developments in Hong Kongˇ¦s financial market.
Professor Chan will return to Hong Kong on November 27.
