************************************************************

The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) and the Planning Department (PlanD) today (November 20) launched the Stage 2 public consultation for the Consultancy Study of the "Planning and Engineering Review of Potential Housing Sites in Tuen Mun East Area ¡V Feasibility Study".

The study, jointly commissioned by the CEDD and PlanD, began in September 2007.  The main objectives of the study are to examine the development potential of 14 study sites in Tuen Mun East for residential use and the impact of the proposed developments on local planning, traffic, infrastructure capacities and environment.

The study includes an evaluation on the suitability of a site currently zoned "Residential (Group A)" (Study Site 14) for public or private housing development.  The overall development intensity and provision of government, institution or community facilities in the Study Area is also reviewed.

The Stage 1 public consultation of the study was conducted between January and March this year to collect public views on the proposed development concept and preliminary proposals.   Taking into account the comments and suggestions received from the Stage 1 public consultation, further review and assessments have been carried out and a revised development scenario is formulated for further consultation.

The purpose of the Stage 2 public consultation is to seek comments and views from the public and concerned groups on the revised development scenario.  Consultation with the Town Planning Board, Tuen Mun District Council and local representatives will be conducted during the consultation period. A public forum will be held on December 6 (Saturday) at Tuen Mun Town Hall to gauge public views.
