The Legislative Council Bills Committee on Public Health and Municipal Services (Amendment) Bill 2008 now invites members of the public and interested parties to express their views on the Public Health and Municipal Services (Amendment) Bill 2008.
The Bill seeks to amend the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance (Cap 132) to empower the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene to make orders administratively to prohibit the import and sale of problem food and recall of problem food for the protection of public health.

The Bills Committee will hold a meeting at 2.30pm on December 4 (Thursday) in the Chamber of the Legislative Council Building to receive views from the public on the Bill. Interested parties are requested to complete and return the reply slip (can be downloaded from the website: http://www.legco.gov.hk/general/english/sec/invite_s/bc511204-reply-e.pdf) to the Clerk to Bills Committee on or before November 28, 2008. Written submissions should also be sent to the Clerk to Bills Committee by the same date.
In line with usual practice, submissions received will be made available to the media and the public, and uploaded onto the Website of the Legislative Council, unless advised otherwise. Submissions received and oral presentations at the meeting will not be covered by the protection and immunity provided under the Legislative Council (Powers and Privileges) Ordinance (Cap 382).
