Two employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 18) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $18,000 on behalf of four employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     Hoi On Security Company Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $13,724.33, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     Choi Wai Man Trading as Health Link, did not appear and in its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $4,459.68, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded at the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees¡¦ MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $198 and $470.
