
39 pollution convictions in October

Thirty-nine convictions were recorded last month (October) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Eighteen of the convictions were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance; nine under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance; six under the Noise Control Ordinance, and six under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in October was $30,000, assessed against a company that imported controlled waste without a permit.
