Transcript of remarks by CS (English only)
******************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, after the meeting of the Panel on Home Affairs and Panel on Development this morning (November 14):

Reporter: How concerned are you about the 4000 Hong Kong workers who are going to be laid off in Macao? How are you trying to review the major infrastructural projects so that more jobs can be created?

Chief Secretary for Administration: First of all, the Macao project is the victim of the global financial tsunami. We are of course very concerned about the unemployment that would be created globally as well as Hong Kong. This is why we are going to do everything we can to review the major infrastructural projects whether there is any room for speeding up those projects. You can be assured that we will do everything we can to look at speeding up any of those projects whenever possible. As far as the West Kowloon is concerned, this is the project that belongs to the people and I hope the people would participate fully in the implementation of the process.
