The Government today (November 14) announced the re-appointment of Mr Anthony Wu Ting-yuk as Chairman of the Hospital Authority, the re-appointment of five serving members and the appointment of five new members to the board. All the appointments are for a term of two years with effect from December 1.
Ms Vivien Chan, Prof Fok Tai-fai, Dr Joseph Lee Kok-long, Mr John Lee Luen-wai and Dr Donald Li Kwok-tung are re-appointed as members of the Hospital Authority.
The new members are Mr Chan Bing-woon, Prof Lee Sum-ping, Ms Queenie Leung Pik-man, Prof George Woo and Mr Stephen Yip Moon-wah. Following is a brief biography of the new members:
Mr Chan Bing-woon is a solicitor. He is a member of the Town Planning Board, the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority and the Chairman of the Appeal Board Panel under the Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance.
Prof Lee Sum-ping is the Dean of Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong.
Ms Queenie Leung Pik-man is a nurse and is currently the Department Operations Manager at the Community Care Division in the New Territories West Cluster of the Hospital Authority. Her appointment follows the long-established practice of the Government to include a staff member of the Hospital Authority on its board.
Prof George Woo is the Dean of Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Mr Stephen Yip Moon-wah is a chartered surveyor. He is serving on the Hong Kong Housing Authority, the Land and Building Advisory Committee and the Transport Advisory Committee. He is also the Vice-President of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors.
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, welcomed the new members to the board. He also thanked the outgoing members, Mr Edward Ho Sing-tin who has served for six years and Dr Polly Lau Mo-yee, for their advice and contribution to the Hospital Authority. Mr Ho and Dr Lau will retire from the board with effect from December 1.
The Hospital Authority, as from December 1, will comprise a chairman, 21 non-official members, three public officers and one principal officer from the Hospital Authority. The new membership list is as follows:
