SHA presents commendation to 113 people (with photo)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (November 13) presented commendation to 113 people for their contributions to community building and social services.

     Speaking at the Secretary for Home Affairs' Commendation Scheme Presentation Ceremony, Mr Tsang said the awardees had been actively participating in community services and committed to striving for the well-being of the people with the aim of fostering a harmonious society. Their commitment and selfless contributions deserved commendation.

     "You have been serving the community for a considerable period and have a deep understanding of the situation of your community. I sincerely hope that you will all continue to build on your strengths to assist the Government in improving people's livelihoods as well as helping the underprivileged and the young.

     "I believe that if we unite, we can turn challenges into opportunities to build a better tomorrow for Hong Kong," he said.

     The Secretary for Home Affairs' Commendation Scheme was introduced in 2002 with the aim of recognising individuals with outstanding contributions to community building, community service as well as the development of sports, culture and the arts. A total of 682 distinguished people have been awarded Certificates of Commendation over the past six years.
