A total of 164 wet goods stalls (out of 180 stalls), one thematic stall and three fast food stalls at the Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair were successfully let in an open auction today (November 12).
About 370 people attended the auction for wet goods stalls, thematic stalls and fast food stalls at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, from 9.30am to 4.30pm today, a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.
The average bid price for the wet goods stalls was $12,294, with the successful bids ranging from $7,840 to $40,000. The highest bid of $40,000 was almost five times the opening price of $7,840.
The auction of wet goods stalls fetched a total of $2,016,220, compared with $2,308,800 last year.
One of the eight thematic stalls was let at the opening price of $28,910. The seven unbidded thematic stalls will be put up for auction as 14 dry goods stalls tomorrow (November 13).
For the fast food stalls, the bid price for the 7.6 x 4.8 metre stall was $350,000, against an opening price of $191,820, while the bid prices for the two 5 x 4 metre stalls were $231,000 and $180,000, against an opening price of $102,740.
The auction for the 298 dry goods stalls will be held at 9.30am tomorrow at the same venue.
