The Hospital Authority (HA) today (Friday, November 7) announced six senior appointments as Hospital Chief Executives (HCE).
The HA Chief Executive, Mr Shane Solomon, said, "Following the rotation exercise of four Hospital Chief Executives in May this year, an extensive recruitment process has been conducted to select the right candidates to fill the vacated HCE posts."
"We are delighted to see the enthusiastic response from our colleagues who have all demonstrated their commitment and dedication to public healthcare services, and this has made the posting decision a very difficult task for the selection panel."
"I am sure that the newly appointed young leaders, many from the frontline, will bring new perspectives and impetus to the hospital management. I look forward to working with them to ensure the ongoing quality and reliability of public healthcare services."
The new appointments are as follows:
* Dr Joseph Lee Man-ho, previously Deputising Head of Corporate Services, is appointed as the HCE of Grantham Hospital. Dr Lee is a specialist in surgery and has been the HCE of Castle Peak Hospital and Siu Lam Hospital since 2001 prior to joining the Head Office. He assumed duty on August 1.
* Dr Man Chi-yin is appointed as the HCE of North District Hospital. Dr Man is currently Co-ordinator (Clinical Services) and Consultant of the Department of Accident and Emergency at Prince of Wales Hospital. He is a specialist in emergency medicine. He will assume the new position on December 1.
* Dr Chung Kin-lai is appointed as the HCE of Castle Peak Hospital and Siu Lam Hospital. Dr Chung is currently the Service Director of Quality and Risk Management in the New Territories West Cluster and the Consultant at the Department of Accident and Emergency in Tuen Mun Hospital. He is a specialist in emergency medicine. He will assume the new position next Monday (November 10).
* Dr Chui Tak-yi is appointed as the HCE of Haven of Hope Hospital. Dr Chui is currently the Deputy HCE, Chief of Service of the Department of Geriatrics and Rehabilitation and Clinical Services Co-ordinator in Haven of Hope Hospital. He is a physician by background. He will assume the new position next Monday (November 10).
* Dr Nelson Wat Ming-sun is appointed as the HCE of Fung Yiu King Hospital, MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre and Duchess of Kent Childrenˇ¦s Hospital. He is currently the Cluster Director of Patient Relations and Corporate Affairs in the Hong Kong West Cluster and Consultant at the Department of Medicine in Queen Mary Hospital. He is a physician by background. The effective date of his new position is being finalised.
* Dr Wong Tak-cheung is appointed as the HCE of Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital. Dr Wong is currently Consultant at the Department of Medicine in Tseung Kwan O Hospital. He is a physician by background. The effective date of his new position is being finalised.
Mr Solomon said he wished all the six HCEs every success in taking up their new challenge.
