The Director of Audit, Mr Benjamin Tang, was deeply saddened by the sudden death today (November 5) of former Deputy Director of Audit Mr Johnsman Chung-man Au.
Mr Au joined the Audit Commission in 1977 as an auditor and advanced to the rank of Deputy Director of Audit in 1996. He retired from the civil service in August this year after serving 31 years in the civil service. Throughout his long career in the Hong Kong Government, Mr Au had displayed a high standard of professional competence and integrity. His extensive knowledge and expertise in government finance and public sector auditing had enhanced the quality of work of the Audit Commission. His contribution to the work of the commission would always be remembered.
On behalf of the Audit Commission, Mr Tang conveyed his deepest condolences to Mr Au's family, and would render every assistance to them as appropriate.
