The Government today (October 31) announced appointments to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).
Two new members, Mr Ananda Arawwawela and Ms Lo Po-man, are appointed for two years from tomorrow (November 1). Mr Mark Lettenbichler and Mr Gary Naroomal Harilela will retire from the HKTB.
Mr Ananda Arawwawela is the Managing Director and Area Managing Director of Hong Kong and Macao of Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers. He is also the First Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Hotels Association.
Ms Lo is an Executive Director of the Regal Hotels International Holdings Limited. She was also one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2007.
"We are most grateful to the retiring members for their valuable contribution to the work of the HKTB during their tenure. We look forward to working with the new members and are confident that their expertise and knowledge will help the HKTB in developing effective marketing strategies and promoting Hong Kong as a premier tourist destination," the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, said.
The appointments to the HKTB are made by the Financial Secretary under section 9(1) of the Hong Kong Tourism Board Ordinance, under delegated authority from the Chief Executive. The composition of the HKTB with effect from November 1, will be as follows:
