Ma On Shan Tsuen Road improvement works gazetted

     The Government today (October 31) published a notice in the Gazette on the proposed Ma On Shan Tsuen Road improvement works.

     It is proposed that a section of the existing Ma On Shan Tsuen Road between Ma On Shan Tsuen Road roundabout near Ma On Shan Tsuen Fresh Water Pump House and the future Ma On Shan residential development sites be upgraded from a single track access to a single two-lane carriageway. Other proposals include: construction of footpaths along the upgraded Ma On Shan Tsuen Road; provision of an access between the upgraded Ma On Shan Tsuen Road and the existing track near the future Ma On Shan residential development sites; construction of two combined pedestrian and vehicular bridges; and other ancillary works such as drainage, slope and landscaping works.

     Some sections of the existing carriageways and footpaths/tracks will be temporarily or permanently closed.

     The works will start in mid 2009 and take about three years to complete.

     The plans and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i) Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii) Sha Tin District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin; and

(iii) District Lands Office, Sha Tin, 11th Floor, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin.

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before December 30.
