Unlicensed food factory in Yuen Long raided (with photos)

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (October 30) raided an unlicensed food factory at a temporary structure in San Sang San Tsuen, Yuen Long, and seized about 600 kilogrammes of fried pig skin and 1,070 kilogrammes of semi-processed products.

     A woman was arrested in the operation and is assisting investigations.

     Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

     "We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food businesses to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.

     "People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
