The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will leave tonight (October 24) for duty visits to the Mainland and Spain.
Leading a Hong Kong trade delegation, Mrs Lau will attend the ninth Western China International Economy and Trade Fair in Chengdu, Sichuan, a large-scale trade fair with the participation of more than 10 provinces and municipalities from the western part of the Mainland.
The delegation will also visit various business establishments in Chengdu to explore opportunities for industrial relocation and business co-operation, and meet with officials from the Sichuan provincial government and Chengdu municipal government to exchange views on co-operation issues.
Members will also visit the Chengdu Research Base for Giant Panda to identify potential for co-operation on the tourism front.
On Monday (October 27), Mrs Lau will fly to Madrid, Spain, where she will give a keynote speech at Hong Kong-Guangdong Business Conference in Madrid 2008 and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation in Wine-Related Businesses with the Spanish Minister for Industry, Tourism and Trade, Mr Miguel Sebastiˆhn.
Mrs Lau will return to Hong Kong next Wednesday (October 29).
