Provision of lifts to a footbridge in North Point gazetted
**********************************************************

     The Government today (October 24) published a notice in the Gazette on the provision of lifts to an existing footbridge across King's Road at the junction of North View Street and North Point Road, North Point.

     For more convenient public access, it is proposed that one lift for each be provided at the northern end and the southern end of the footbridge across King's Road at that location. Other works include footbridge links to connect the proposed lifts to the footbridge; permanent closure and reconstruction of a section of the existing carriageway as a footpath; temporary closure and reconstruction of some sections of the existing carriageways, footpaths and footbridge; and ancillary works such as drainage and the associated road modification works.

     The works will start in mid 2009 and take about 18 months to complete.

     The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i) Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii) Eastern District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, Eastern Law Courts Building, 29 Tai On Street, Sai Wan Ho; and

(iii) District Lands Office, Hong Kong East, 19th Floor, Southorn Centre, 130-150 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai.

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before December 23.
