32 building plans approved in September

     The Buildings Department approved 32 building plans in September - eight on Hong Kong Island, nine in Kowloon and 15 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, 10 were for commercial developments, eight were for factory and industrial developments and nine were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on four building projects that, when completed, will provide 20,261 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 214 units, and 1,232 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for four building projects.

     The department also issued 15 occupation permits - one on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 12,082 square metres, involving 217 units, and 271,408 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in September totalled about $1.7 billion.

     In addition, 11 demolition consents involving 11 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,415 complaints against unauthorised building works in September, and issued 1,960 removal orders on unauthorised works.
