LCKRC inmate attempts suicide

An inmate was found attempting suicide by Correctional Services Department (CSD) staff today (October 18) at around 6.30pm in a cell at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre (LCKRC).
The 53-year-old inmate, surnamed Fung, was found hanging with a piece of bed sheet. He was immediately lowered and given first-aid treatment by staff of the Centre.
Fung, found unconscious, was sent by ambulance to Princess Margaret Hospital for further treatment.
The inmate was sentenced to imprisonment for six months for the offence of theft. He was admitted to LCKRC on October 14.
Investigation on the case is being conducted by CSD.
