***********************************************************

The Youth Dance Company of the Beijing Dance Academy, which is acclaimed as "a top-class company with dancers that exude great energy and tremendous form", will next month (November) perform in a show called "Water Fantasy".

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Water Fantasy" is a showcase of Chinese classical dance that unfolds like a Chinese ancient handscroll with "water" as the linking theme. It is a gallery of classical dance works that encompass robust and graceful pieces including award-winning titles, "The Guardian Spirits of the Bodhisattva", "Moonlight on the Spring River", "Qu Yuan: Invocation to Heaven", "The Lotus as the Favourite Flower", and "Reminiscence at Chi Bi - Zhou Yu and Qiao the Younger".

The Youth Dance Company of the Beijing Dance Academy is renowned as "the cradle of dancers". It has groomed numerous dancers, many of whom are award-winners in various national and international dance competitions. The Youth Dance Company, composed of teachers, graduates and students from the academy, has been well received thanks to its innovative repertoire, sophisticated presentation and superb technique.  It has given highly successful performances in the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Spain, Romania, Belarus, Japan and South Korea, winning acclaim from the media as "a top-class company with dancers that exude great energy and tremendous form - the first ever dance troupe with an academic, intellectual aura in China".

"Water Fantasy" will be staged at 8pm, November 21 to 23 (Friday to Sunday), at the Auditorium, Yuen Long Theatre; Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall, and Auditorium, Tai Po Civic Centre, respectively.
