A 20-member Immigration Department delegation will begin an eight-day study programme on the Mainland on Sunday (October 12).
It is the seventh Mainland Study Programme at Beijing Gong An University and is co-ordinated by the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development and the Beijing Office.
The delegation will be headed by Acting Assistant Principal Immigration Officer (Airport), Mr Yu Chun-pang, and comprises a Chief Immigration Officer, five Senior Immigration Officers, six Immigration Officers, two Chief Immigration Assistants, four Senior Immigration Assistants and an Immigration Assistant.
The officers will attend lectures on various subjects, including the general situation of immigration work, the management of Mainland residents travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau, frontier inspection duties, police system and the organisational structure of the Gong An, Chinese culture and criminal psychology etc. The delegation will also visit Xi'an city.
Director of Immigration, Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu, met the officers before they left for the Mainland. He said the study programme would provide a good opportunity for the officers to enhance their understanding of the operations of the Mainland Immigration Authority and help establish a firmer and closer working connection with Mainland counterparts.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong on October 19.
