Wong Tai Sin DC by-election nominations open tomorrow

     The nomination period for the by-election in the Tsz Wan West Constituency of the Wong Tai Sin District Council will run from tomorrow (October 10) to October 23.

     "A nominee must be a registered geographical constituency elector aged 21 or above who has ordinarily lived in Hong Kong for the three years immediately before his or her nomination,กจ a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) said today (October 9).

     "A nomination must be subscribed to by 10 registered electors of the constituency. Each elector can subscribe to only one nomination," he said.

     The nominee must personally hand in the completed nomination form, together with an election deposit of $3,000, to the Returning Officer for the by-election within the nomination period. Nominations are accepted from 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays, and from 9am to noon on Saturdays.

     The Returning Officer for the by-election is the District Officer (Wong Tai Sin), whose office is located at 6/F, Lung Cheung Office Block, 138 Lung Cheung Road, Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon.

     Nomination forms and the Guidelines on Election-related Activities in respect of the District Council Election are available at the office of the Returning Officer and can be downloaded at the REO's website (www.reo.gov.hk).

     Nomination forms and the guidelines are also available at the REO at 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, and at 10/F, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai. Both offices will extend their service hours to include Saturday mornings during the nomination period.

     "All nominees should submit their nominations as early as possible so that they will have time to rectify any mistakes before the deadline," the spokesman said.

     If there is more than one validly nominated candidate, a poll will be held on November 30 (Sunday).
