LD assists U-right employees

    The Labour Department has made special arrangements to assist U-right staff affected by the decision of the provisional liquidator for U-right International Holdings Ltd to terminate their employment starting yesterday (October 8).

    The Labour Department has set up three hotlines for the affected employees to enquire during office hours. The numbers are as follows:

- Telephone number : 2928 7112 or 2928 7002 (for employees' statutory rights and benefits);
- Telephone number : 2150 6397 (for employment services)

    The department will register and help the affected employees apply for ex-gratia payments from the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund (PWIF). The preliminary application form for PWIF can be downloaded from the department's website at www.labour.gov.hk.

    In addition, the department has set up special service counters at all of its Labour Relations Offices to help employees pursue termination compensation.

    Special service counters have also been set up at all Job Centres of the LD to provide job referral service for affected employees and assist them to find new jobs.  Meanwhile, the department is liaising with relevant establishments to canvass suitable vacancies for the affected employees.
