The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in September showed a decrease of 700 cases over August, representing a decrease of 0.2%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (October 8).
Total CSSA caseload at the end of September stood at 282,932 (see attached table), with 474,429 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a decrease of 0.3% in September to 31,022.
Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.5% in September to 36,148.
Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 1.3% to stand at 16,197.
Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $18 billion for 2007-08.
