CSD reports death of Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre inmate

A 54-year-old male remand of Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre (SLPC) was found lying unconscious on the floor in his cell by staff of the institution shortly after 10 pm yesterday (September 26).
First aid was immediately given at the scene, a spokesperson of the Correctional Services Department said. The inmate was then taken to Tuen Mun Hospital and was certified dead at 11.11 pm.
The case was reported to police and his family was informed. An inquest into the inmate's death will be held by the Coroner's Court.
The inmate, surnamed Lai, was admitted to SLPC on September 20 on a charge of wounding.
