In relation to some patients in a female ward of Castle Peak Hospital who had presented with fever and flu symptoms, a hospital spokesman announced the following update today (September 25).
Two more female patients (aged 43 and 59) of the same female ward have presented with flu symptoms. They are being treated under isolation. Appropriate tests have been arranged. So far, nine patients have presented with fever and flu symptoms and the test results of three patients were found positive to parainfluenza virus (type 3). One of the four staff members who had presented with flu symptoms in the concerned ward is still on sick leave.
Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. Admission and visits to the ward as well as discharges from the related cubicle have been suspended while all patients are under close medical surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
