The Hong Kong SAR Government continues to follow up requests for assistance from Hong Kong residents who were affected by the fire that broke out at a club in Longgang, Shenzhen, on September 20.
A Principal Immigration Officer and a Chief Immigration Officer of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) are in Longgang today (September 22) to provide assistance to the affected Hong Kong residents. Five Hong Kong residents died and another was injured in the fire.
Deputy Director of GDETO, Ms Alice Choi, said that the Hong Kong SAR Government would render all practical assistance to family members of the deceased and the injured person. This includes assistance in facilitating the handling/transportation of the bodies of the deceased.
¡§We will continue to keep close liaison with family members of the deceased and the injured person to follow up their requests and provide assistance as necessary,¡¨ she said.
Officers of GDETO went to Longgang to take follow-up action immediately after learning about the fire. Any Hong Kong residents who need assistance may contact the Immigration Department¡¦s ¡§Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit¡¨ 24-hour hotline at (852)1868.
