********************************************************

Hong Kong Customs seized this year's largest haul of counterfeit goods from two export consignments at cargo terminals of the Hong Kong International Airport on September 16.

The counterfeits, worth about $4.2 million, included watches, mobile phones and accessories.

About 5pm on September 16, Customs officers of the Airport Command intercepted two export consignments for examination. One was declared to be carrying watches and the other containing mobile phones and accessories.

Upon examination, the officers found about 3,300 counterfeit watches of various brand names and 28 cartons of counterfeit mobile phones, accessories and multi-media players.

     Customs investigation is continuing.

Under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, anyone convicted of importing or exporting any goods to which a false trade description or forged trademark is applied is liable to a maximum penalty of imprisonment for five years and a fine of $500,000.
