The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, today (September 17) praised the performances of the Hong Kong athletes at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
Hui Charn-hung of the Hong Kong wheelchair fencing team captured one more silver medal in the men's individual sabre event on the last day of the Games. Hong Kong has won a total of 11 medals, comprising five gold, three silver and three bronze.
"The Paralympians have overcome incredible odds and challenges in an unyielding spirit to bring home the medals. Indeed, all members of the Hong Kong team have done their best and excelled themselves in the Games. All of us in Hong Kong are proud of them and their achievements," Mr Tsang said.
The Hong Kong delegation will return tomorrow (September 18). The Chief Executive will attend a welcome reception for them and present certificates of appreciation to the athletes.
