The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, extended his warmest congratulations to Hong Kong athletes So Wa-wai, Yu Chui-yee and Fan Pui-shan for winning three medals in the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games today (September 15).
Upon his arrival in Beijing this afternoon, Mr Tsang watched So Wa-wai competing at the National Stadium to show his support for the athlete.
Mr Tsang said he was thrilled at the excellent performance of So Wa-wai, who broke the world record and captured another a gold medal for Hong Kong in the men's 200 metres event. He congratulated the athlete immediately after the competition at the stadium. So won a bronze medal in the men's 100 metres event a few days ago.
Yu Chui-yee and Fan Pui-shan also won a silver and a bronze medal respectively at the wheelchair fencing competition (women's epee).
"We are all very impressed by the three athletes' perseverance and unfailing efforts to excel, which is a full demonstration of sportsmanship," Mr Tsang said.
So far, Hong Kong has scored a total of three gold, two silver and two bronze.
