SCED to visit Beijing

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will visit Beijing from September 16 to 18 to call on ministries and departments responsible for policy portfolios including trade and commerce, tourism, technology, intellectual property, and broadcasting and film.

     This is Mrs Lau's first duty visit to Beijing since she assumed office. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will join the visit.

     They will meet with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, National Tourism Administration, State Intellectual Property Office, General Administration of Customs, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.

     They will also pay courtesy calls on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.

     The Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce, Industry and Tourism), Miss Yvonne Choi; Deputy Commissioner for Tourism, Ms Joey Lam; and Director-General of Telecommunications, Mrs Marion Lai, will join parts of the tour.

     Mrs Lau will return to Hong Kong in the evening of September 18.
