Immigration officers on Mainland study programme(With photo)

     A 20-member Immigration Department delegation will tomorrow (September 2) begin a seven-day Hong Kong Disciplined Services National Affairs Study Programme in Shanghai.

     The programme will be run at the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong.  It is arranged and offered by the Police Liaison Department of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR.

     The delegation will be headed by acting Principal Immigration Officer (The Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing, Immigration Division), Mr Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, and comprises one Chief Immigration Officers, six Senior Immigration Officers and 12 Immigration Officers.

     The programme covers lectures and visits relating to studies on history and development, social and economic changes, as well as the infrastructure and city planning of recent China.  Topics related to foreign affairs and the management of control point are also included.

     Director of Immigration, Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu, met the officers before they left for the Mainland. He said the study programme would provide a good opportunity for the officers to broaden their horizons and better understand the various systems, laws and developments on the Mainland.

     The delegation will return to Hong Kong on September 9.
