Kai Tak North apron area infrastructure works gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (August 29) on Kai Tak Development to provide infrastructure works serving the future public housing sites and government offices at the north apron area of Kai Tak Airport.

     The proposed works include: realignment of Concorde Road and construction of a roundabout at the end of the realigned Concorde Road; construction of Roads L2, L3, L4 and L15 totalling approximately two kilometres with interchange works; extension and widening of Kai Wah Street carriageway and footpath; construction of a subway extension  approximately 40 metres long connecting the existing subway under San Po Kong Interchange and the future Government Offices; construction of a footbridge approximately 170 metres long connecting the future Government Offices and a future development at San Po Kong; construction of a footbridge approximately 85 metres long connecting Eastern Road and Rhythm Garden; permanent closure of Cargo Circuit carriageways and footpaths; ancillary works including drainage, water, utility and landscaping works.

     Some sections of the existing carriageways, footpaths, ramps and staircase will be temporarily or permanently closed and demolished. The works will start in July 2009 and tentatively take about 48 months to complete.

     The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i)  Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii) Wong Tai Sin District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 201, 2/F, Lung Cheung Office Block, 138 Lung Cheung Road, Wong Tai Sin;

(iii)Kowloon City District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Room 1707, 17/F, One Harbourfront, 18 - 22 Tak Fung Street, Hung Hom;

(iv) Kwun Tong District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Lower G/F, Kwun Tong District Branch Offices Building, 6 Tung Yan Street, Kwun Tong; and

(v)  District Lands Office, Kowloon East, 10/F, Yau Ma Tei Carpark Building, 250 Shanghai Street.

     Anyone who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before October 28.
