The Returning Officer will rule on the validity of the nominees' candidature shortly.
A briefing for candidates and their agents will be held at the Yau Tsim Mong District Council Conference Room, 4/F, Mong Kok Government Offices, 30 Luen Wan Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, at 10am on Saturday (August 30). Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Pang Kin-kee, will chair the briefing and introduce the guidelines on election-related activities.
A representative from the Independent Commission Against Corruption will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance. The Returning Officer and representatives from the Registration and Electoral Office, the Hongkong Post and the Department of Justice will also be present.
If there is more than one validly nominated candidate, voting for a contested election is set for October 5 (Sunday). The returned candidate will fill a vacant seat of an elected member in the Yau Tsim Mong District Council.
