A man was reportedly missing at Big Wave Bay at about 4.30 pm today (August 22). Firemen and police officers have been despatched to the scene trying to locate the missing person.
A total of 23 men and 26 women, aged from three to 91, have sought treatment at the Accident and Emergency Departments at public hospitals since Northwest Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 was issued. Six men and five women were admitted to hospital, with three in serious condition and eight in stable condition.
The Increasing Gale or Storm Signal No. 9 is still in force, although typhoon Nuri has weakened into a severe tropical storm.
As at 5.30 pm, 265 people have sought refuge at 26 temporary shelters of the Home Affairs Department since Northwest Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 was issued
Two people were injured when a scaffolding collapsed at Fuk Wa Street (instead of Fuk Wing Street mentioned earlier), Sham Shui Po earlier this afternoon. They were treated at hospital and have been discharged.
Classes of all schools, including evening classes, have been suspended today.
All through train services have been suspended from 3.30 pm. All ferry, tram and peak tram services and most bus services have been suspended since 10 am today. MTRC services are maintained at 10 to 20-minute intervals. As at 6 pm, 388 passenger flights have been cancelled or delayed while 15 flights were diverted. For cargo flights, 46 have been cancelled or delayed.
At 6.45 pm, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has received 61 requests for emergency assistance concerning fallen trees and trunks on roadside. They included 13 requests in Hong Kong region, 9 requests in Kowloon region and 39 requests in the New Territories region.
In addition, 16 reports of dangerous sign, eight reports of fallen external wall and six reports of collapsed scaffoldings have been received by the Buildings Department.
