The Hong Kong Observatory issued the Northwest Gale or Storm Signal no. 8 at 7.40am today (August 22). Nuri is expected to be rather close to Hong Kong this afternoon and tonight, and the storm signal will be in force most of the day.
At 10am, all ferry, tram and peak tram services and most bus services have been suspended. MTRC services are maintained at 10-minute intervals, while the Airport Express Line is running at 12 minute intervals. Cathay Pacific and Dragonair announced that all flights will be suspended from 2 pm.
As at 9 am, two passenger arrival and one departure flights have been cancelled, while six passenger arrival and three departure flights have been delayed.
Classes of all day schools will be suspended today.
The Home Affairs Department has opened 18 temporary shelters and as at 9.30 am, 82 people have sought refuge at the shelters.
No report of flooding or landslide has been received.
