The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, will leave for Beijing tomorrow (August 16) to give encouragement to Hong Kong's athletes participating in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and volunteers serving in the Games.
On his arrival tomorrow afternoon, Mr Tsang will attend a welcome reception to be hosted by the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing for the athletes and volunteers. He will give a speech to encourage the athletes and thank the volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
He will then watch the men's points race cycling track event at Laoshan Velodrome where Hong Kong's cyclist Wong Kam-po will participate.
In the evening, Mr Tsang will visit the Olympic Village to meet members of the Hong Kong delegation as well as volunteers serving at the medical centre.
Mr Tsang will also watch men's and women's team competitions at the Peking University Gymnasium on Sunday (August 17) to show his support for Hong Kong's table-tennis players.
He will leave Beijing for Hong Kong on Monday.
