¡@¡@Renowned conductor Yan Bozheng will lead the Chinese National Orchestra Folk Chorus in two concerts next month, featuring celebrated sopranos Xie Lin and Gon Junli and baritone Liu Yang.
¡@¡@The group will present some of the best-known Chinese folk songs in choral form, as well as vocal ensemble, duet and solo, in a repertoire that will include folk classics "Wu Ge Grazing the Sheep" and "Jasmine", poetic songs such as "Wu Songs of Midnight" and "Song of Burying Petals", and lively love song duets, all accompanied by a Chinese instrumental ensemble. ¡@¡@The Chinese National Orchestra Folk Chorus is one of the best national class choirs on the Mainland, and is well known for its interpretation of Chinese folk songs and rearranged folk songs. With exquisite vocal technique, the group contributes to the enrichment of Chinese music with its continuing efforts to create and develop contemporary Chinese vocal arts. It has won critical acclaim on the Mainland and overseas.
¡@¡@Yan Bozheng has been commended as a conductor of talent, inspiration and creativity. Yan excels in the interpretation of German and Austrian choral works, vocal pieces by contemporary composers and Chinese ethnic vocal works. He has conducted many choirs and is a member of the Chinese Musicians' Association, a committee member of the Chinese Ethnic Minorities' Vocal Music Association, a committee member of the China Chorus Association and the conductor of the Chinese National Orchestra Folk Chorus.
¡@¡@Presented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Chinese National Orchestra Folk Chorus: Splendorous Chinese Songs" will be at 8pm on September 18 (Thursday) at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall; and on September 19 (Friday) at the Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets priced from $100 to $220 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients (limited tickets for students and CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
