Unlicensed food factory in Yuen Long raided (with photos)

    Officers of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this (August 14) morning  raided an unlicensed food factory in an open-air car park at Ma Tin Tsuen, Yuen Long, and seized about 110 kilogrammes of pig's intestines.

    A man was arrested in the operation and is assisting investigations.

    Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty, upon conviction, for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

    "We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.

    "People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
