Tuen Mun restaurant ordered to suspend business
***********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has ordered a restaurant in Tuen Mun to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop A8, ground floor, Goodrich Garden, 9 Leung Tak Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (August 10) to August 23, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In April this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business and preparing food in open space at the food premises.

"A total fine of $5,500 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the same restaurant also had convictions for illegal extension of food business in November last year and March this year.

"A total fine of $3,700 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from May 22 to 28 this year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
