The Water Supplies Department today (August 10) reminded anglers wishing to indulge their hobby in local reservoirs during the coming fishing season that they must apply for a licence from the department.
The licence will be valid for three years at a fee of $24. Reservoirs are open for fishing from September 1 to March 31 the next year.
Applications can be made at the departmentˇ¦s Customer Enquiry Centres during office hours at the following addresses:
* Wan Chai Customer Enquiry Centre - First floor, Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong; and
* Mong Kok Customer Enquiry Centre - Ground floor, 128 Sai Yee Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon.
Alternatively, applications can be made by post to the department's headquarters at 43/F, Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. An applicant should provide his/her name and address, a photocopy of his/her identity card or passport, a crossed cheque for $24 payable to "The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" and a self-addressed stamped envelope. No licence will be issued to people under the age of 13.
Anglers must observe the rules under their fishing licences. Each licence is good for the use of only one rod and line. The use of nets or other fishing appliances is not allowed. Boats, dinghies and rafts are not permitted in the reservoirs. The use of explosive or toxic substances to catch or kill fish is strictly prohibited.
